Cree Santa Solution

PROVIDING CUSTOMER CONFIDENCE YEAR AFTER YEAR
What is it that makes a cattle producer return again and again to a seed stock breeder?  In a nutshell, David Anderson who has purchased Cree bulls for 7 years puts it down to a couple of key things.
“The McGuigan’s passion for the breed and their bulls ability to do the job for their customer”.  David with his wife Wendy run a 19,000 acre operation at Westmar predominantly Santa Gertrudis where they run approximately 450 breeders with the aim to turn off two year olds destined for the EU Market.
The Anderson’s sell direct to the processing plants at Beenleigh, Oakey or Dinmore and continue to see the benefits of the Cree bulls in their herd.  David said that it is the clear commitment of the McGuigan’s in everything that they do that shines through into their cattle. Shaun & Jo’s interest in producing the best article they can and their interest in their customer’s business cements for him the trust he has in again and again purchasing their bulls. The fact that the Cree bulls aren’t overfeed, that they can go straight out into the paddock and don’t fall apart is a big draw card for us plus of course their amazing temperament. David buys his bulls from Cree based on both visual inspection and analysis of the in-depth & accurate data that the McGuigan’s supply.
Everything that Shaun & Jo McGuigan do is done properly from handling their cattle, their working dogs and their overall management of their business.  It is this attention to detail that provides him with the knowledge that their bulls are the article he needs to ensure that his business moves forward also.  “The fact that Shaun & Jo guarantee their bulls to be fit and healthy by working closely with a feed consultant, plus the McGuigans’ after sale commitment is the difference” David said.
“I like how Shaun & Jo deliver the bulls to me and then want to go down the paddock and see how previous bulls are going, how they are holding up, what their progeny are doing and discuss how our business as a whole is going with the introduction of their bulls”, David said. The McGuigan’s passion in moving their herd forward and therefore our herd is refreshing.
David & Wendy Anderson.

CREE SANTAS – ADVANCING BEEF
What is it that keeps buyers coming back for a product year after year?  Mark Morton from Practical Systems, the provider of Stock Book Software would say that whilst his Individual Animal Management & Ag Financial program plays a part in a beef producer’s business, it is Shaun & Jo McGuigans’ passion to deliver a product to their customers which in turn advance’s that customer’s productivity that is the key. “Robust processes in place to provide customer confidence” is Mark’s belief in what sets the Cree Santa herd apart.
The ability for the McGuigan’s to utilise the Stock Book Software and Stock Hand App in their business to provide a wide range comprehensive traits including Breed plan & Carcass data gives customers the knowledge that they are getting more than just what they see.
Any under performing progeny can be identified back to sire and dam lines, but more importantly it allows for the better performing animals to be multiplied. The Stock book program allows a physical calving interval and that same information records days to calving when the data is sent to the ABRI for analysis. Meatworks data can easily be imported and linked via the NLIS tracking number which allows direct comparison of that carcass information with the sire of the animal.
The McGuigan’s use of the program allows them to enter data in real time via the Stock Hand app and also crush side to incorporate the recording of chemical treatments and vaccinations. Syncing then can take place of the data via the cloud which then processes that information back to the McGuigan’s office.
“Shaun & Jo have good systems in place to produce a product that they are prepared to provide a warranty on, – that’s what builds customer confidence.” Mark Morton, Practical Systems Software.

THE CREE SANTA DIFFERENCE
With the aim to continually improve their herd Shaun & Jo McGuigan enlist a variety of tools to ensure that their passion for producing the best beef they can drives their business and that of their customers forward.  Having the ability to draw on 17 years of data from their herd has provided not only plenty of data for customers to utilise but more importantly has given the Cree herd more accurate figures in Breed plan which Paul Williams says makes Cree a contender when it comes to reviewing data at bull sale time.
The McGuigan’s record a large amount of data from weights, Eye Muscle area, fat depth and Intramuscular fat, sexual maturity, Days to calving plus additional data such as testicular size and development which assist in bull selection criteria. Paul Williams said that it is this depth of data and the long term commitment of the McGuigans in ensuring the data provided is accurate and done at the correct times that provides bull buyers with the confidence that they can purchase bulls on traits that they may require but can’t choose based on a visual analysis. “When it comes down to it, it is the level of accuracy in a herd’s figures that is the difference” Paul said.
